(Remember, Scar? Anyone else want to watch the Lion King now?)
In Step Six we trim the nails. I suggest you get just the tips especially for the first trim. This leaves less room for mistakes and provides you both with a positive experience. Don’t forget to trim the dewclaws for Step Seven! They’re those random (but oh so cute) toes/nails higher up on your pup’s foot. If forgotten, it can curl up and get caught. It won’t be pleasant for either of you if this happens.
If this is too difficult or it scares you, I suggest going to the groomer and spending the $10-15. We’re not judging… At least you tried.
Note: Nicole tried to follow these steps but just ended up flipping Zara on her back instead of having her sit. Do NOT attempt unless you are 150% sure your pup will be comfortable like this. Being on her back is something Zara is trained to do and is used to!
